Apple patent for iPod Touch gaming?

A newly uncovered patent application filed by Apple for “techniques that provide input to interactive and multitasking applications, especially in regards to gaming.” The patent shows a type of media player, (which may indicate the iPhone or iPod touch) makes reference to a music-based game.
A location on the input area can be designated, for example, for a gaming application if input is received in a particular manner different than that designated for the non-gaming application (e.g., tapping or touching the region would send input to a gaming application, but pressing would result in a media player function)
Functions such as that would work well on iPod Touches and iPhones so you can have music playing in the background, and can control the music while still in the game. However, there is a chance this would integrated into a future product, but it sure looks like it will be wonderful for the iPod touch.
